September is one of my favourite times of the year for a UK getaway. The summer crowds have started to disappear, the evenings are getting a little cosier and there's something lovely about having a few days away before autumn properly arrives. And you don't need to spend a fortune to find somewhere seriously beautiful.


From secluded shepherd's huts and tiny homes to seaside stays and cosy cottages, I've rounded up 10 of the best UK Airbnbs priced under £150 per night, perfect for a last-minute September escape.



  1. Rookery Retreat, Devon


If you're looking for somewhere peaceful and secluded, Rookery Retreat is the perfect countryside escape.


A cosy shepherd's hut that sits on a 500-acre traditional farm in Devon and sleeps two, this stay is ideal for a romantic weekend away, or a solo escape. Inside, you'll find a Smeg hob, a wood-burning stove, a walk-in rain shower, and a comfy double bed, while outside there's a two-person bath for relaxing after a day exploring the countryside.


At £130 a night, it's a pretty special little escape. Two-night minimum.




  1. Barn in Auldgirth, Scotland


If you fancy going off-grid for a few days, this traditional Scottish bothy in Auldgirth is about as back-to-basics as it gets, with a few modern luxuries thrown in. Sleeping up to six guests, it has a wood-burning stove and cosy living space, but no TV, Wi-Fi or conventional bathroom.


Instead, there's cold running water and a composting toilet, making this one for anyone wanting to properly switch off and reconnect with the outdoors.


At £142 a night, it could make a brilliant September adventure with friends. Two-night minimum.

This secluded Devon cabin is the perfect place to disappear for a few nights.


Designed as an artist retreat, the two-person cabin has a minimalist Scandi-inspired interior, wild outdoor bathing and a wood-fired bath. It's the kind of place where you can leave your phone alone, spend the day exploring and then come back to soak under the stars.

Tiny homes are having a moment, and The Weekender at Cleave Farm Cottages is a great example of why.


This tiny Cornwall home sleeps two and is close to Bude, with easy access to the South West Coast Path. It's compact but has everything you need for a cosy coastal break, with incredible countryside and sea views nearby.


At £88 per night, it's also one of the more budget-friendly options on the list. Two-night minimum.

If waking up to a sea view sounds like your perfect September morning, this one is worth a look.


This two-person bungalow in Westward Ho! has a gorgeous glass atrium-style living room, meaning you can enjoy the coastal views without even leaving the sofa. It's also a short walk from the beach, making it easy to spend your days exploring the Devon coastline before coming back to watch the sunset from your own little retreat.

This is the kind of stay that will make you want to pack a bag and disappear for a few nights.


Tucked away in the Wiltshire countryside, this secluded shepherd's hut has its own wood-fired hot tub, fire pit, BBQ and pizza oven, with wood provided for the fires. There's also a private garden surrounded by trees and fields, making it particularly appealing for those cooler September evenings. And if you're a wild swimming fan, you're close to the Kennet and Avon Canal.

  1. Jasmine Cottage, North Devon


How about a 16th-century cottage? Jasmine Cottage is tucked away in Fairy Cross in North Devon and has retained plenty of its original character, including stonework, limestone floors and a traditional fireplace. There's also a log burner, which makes it particularly appealing as we move towards autumn. And being in North Devon, there are plenty of beaches, walks and coastal spots to explore during the day.


This one-bedroom cottage has a three-night minimum stay and works out at around £116 a night.




  1. Tiny House in Woolley, Cornwall


Another one for those who like their accommodation small and surrounded by nature.


This handmade wooden tiny house on wheels sits on a farm in Cornwall, with direct access to footpaths leading towards the South West Coast Path. There's a private garden with a fire pit, while a sauna with sea views is also available to hire on the farm. This stay is perfect for walking, surfing, fresh air and doing very little.


Around £81 per night. Two-night minimum.




  1. Shepherd's Hut, Cumbria


If you're looking for a back-to-nature escape, this shepherd's hut in the Lorton Valley is for you.


Set on a family farm with incredible views across the valley, this shepherd's hut sleeps two. Inside, there's a wood-burning stove, while outside, the accommodation is simple and off-grid. There's no electricity, although solar lights are provided, and there's a separate composting toilet. A breakfast hamper is also delivered to your door in the morning. Perfect for those who want to swap screens and schedules for a few days in the countryside and fresh air.


£95 per night.




  1. The Old Forge, North Yorkshire


For something with a little history, there's The Old Forge in Wrelton, near Pickering.


This North Yorkshire cottage was once a 19th-century blacksmith's forge before being transformed into a cosy cottage. It now has a living room, kitchen, bathroom and mezzanine bedroom, while its location makes it a great base for exploring the North York Moors. September is a brilliant time to explore this part of Yorkshire, particularly if you fancy filling your days with walks before coming back to your cosy cottage for the evening.
