There are places where music history isn’t just remembered, it’s felt. George Harrison’s Childhood Home in Speke, Liverpool, is one of them - and today, you can actually stay there as it's now an Airbnb!

On Saturday, 25th October, I was invited to the special opening evening, a PR event where guests were treated to an unforgettable night. The Paperback Writers, familiar faces at the iconic Cavern Club, where The Beatles performed, played in the back garden where Harrison, McCartney, and Lennon first played.

And as if that wasn’t surreal enough, Colin Hanton, the drummer of Lennon’s Quarrymen, was there with his wife, sharing stories, singing along and reminding us that The Beatles began simply as local kids with big dreams and guitars.

Exploring the home feels like being welcomed into the private world of young George. You can sleep in his childhood bedroom, the same room where George first heard himself on the radio, now prepared with a comfortable double bed and fresh linens. The other upstairs rooms, once his sister’s and his parents’, are cosy and thoughtfully furnished, while the bathroom still includes the original bathtub from George’s time here, updated with a modern shower for comfort.

Downstairs, the living room has been designed to reflect how it may have looked when George Harrison lived here as a child, while incorporating modern touches for a comfortable guest stay. Featuring floral wallpaper inspired by 1970s interiors, plush seating, a guitar ready to be strummed, and a TV with streaming services, the space blends nostalgia with contemporary comfort.

The kitchen is fully functional too, whether you’re cooking a full meal or simply grabbing breakfast before heading out. With fast Wi-Fi throughout the house and free parking nearby, staying here feels both convenient and special.

But what truly makes this place special is the experience: picking up a guitar where The Beatles once rehearsed, listening to early Beatles records on a retro player in the very house where dreams of life beyond Liverpool first began, and recreating the famous photo of young George Harrison holding his guitar case as he headed out to play with The Quarrymen, right at the same front door.

Of course, I had to get that photo too - how do you think I did?

This home isn’t a museum. It’s a living piece of history you can walk through, sleep in and truly connect with the birthplace of something that changed the world. Book your stay today on Airbnb, here.
