Escaping to Tranquillity at Lakeside Lodges in Woodhall Spa

Just when you think you’ve seen all the Airbnbs and boutique hotels tucked away in the UK’s most beautiful corners, a place like Lakeside Lodges in Lincolnshire surprises you completely. Nestled in the peaceful woods of Woodhall Spa, beside a picturesque fishing lake, are Hotchkin Lodge and Lakewood Retreat, two beautiful lodges made for unforgettable memories with loved ones.

From the moment I arrived, I was met with the warmest hospitality and the most thoughtful hamper, filled with all my favourite treats, including Prosecco, crisps, biscuits, sweets, chocolate, hot chocolate and speciality coffees. Waiting on the bed was my favourite Lindor chocolate, such a lovely surprise.

The lodge itself has been beautifully designed with comfort in mind. Inside, a spacious open-plan living area for cosy evenings curled up on the sofa in front of the TV and fire. The fully equipped kitchen is perfect for cooking homemade meals, while the dining area invites you to sit by the window and watch the geese glide across the fishing lake.

But the real highlight for me was the private deck and its own hot tub. Sitting there with the bubbles on, looking out over the fishing lake with nothing but birdsong around you, was just bliss. Whether it was an early morning soak, a late-night dip or just sitting out with a cuppa, it quickly became my favourite spot.

I stayed in The Hotchkin Lodge, which features a king size en-suite bedroom complete with a dressing room, an additional deluxe bathroom and a beautifully designed open-plan living, dining and kitchen space. Outside, a private decking area with its own hot tub overlooks the lake, completing the lodge’s thoughtfully designed setting for a truly romantic getaway.

I was also invited to view Lakewood Retreat, a wonderful family-friendly option that sleeps up to four across a double and twin bedroom. Also with its own hot tub overlooking the lake, Lakewood Retreat is an ideal choice for families, those travelling with pets or anyone looking for a relaxed lakeside escape with a little more space.

Both lodges are set within the five-star Woodhall Country Park, private properties owned by Trudy and Nicky. Nestled in a beautiful 2,000-acre woodland estate in the Lincolnshire countryside, the lodges are just a short walk from the charming town of Woodhall Spa. The park itself has plenty to explore, including fishing lakes, a children’s playground, bike rentals and trails through the surrounding woodland. On weekends, you can enjoy the outdoor bar and food vendors, making it the perfect base for a relaxing family getaway or a peaceful escape into nature.

Woodhall Spa itself is filled with historic walks, local cafes, independent shops and a vintage cinema, all within a short stroll. Whether you’re exploring the village or relaxing at the lodge, every moment feels refreshed.
